Prof. Ya-Sen Sun
National Cheng-Kung University
Dr. Ya-Sen Sun has been a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National Cheng-Kung
University
(NCKU) since August 2022. Dr Sun received his doctorate in polymer physics and crystallization at the Department
of
Chemical Engineering of the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in 2002. After his study on
polymorphism,
thermal behavior, and phase transitions of semicrystalline polymers at NCKU, he joined the Materials Science
Division at
the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) in 2002, where he was devoted to small-angle and
wide-angle
X-ray and neutron scattering technique. This technique is capable of structural characterizations of objects at
tens of
nanometers in polymers, amphiphiles, colloids, and biomaterials. Besides, he directed his research to
hierarchical
self-assembly in organic-inorganic hybrids of polymers and nanoparticles, and polymer crystallization
fundamentals under
nanoscale confinement in 2002-2007. Dr. Sun spent one year as a visiting scholar at the Department of Chemical
Engineering of Stanford University during 2007-2008, where his research work focused on the structure-property
relationships of organic thin film transistors. Dr. Sun joined the faculty of the Department of Chemical and
Materials
Engineering of the National Central University (NCU) during the period of 2008-2022. His current research mainly
focuses
on self-assembly fundamentals and technological applications of block copolymer thin films.
